Hello,
My name is Janice McEwan. I have been a primary school teacher for over 25 years during which time, I was a class teacher and also school SENCo working with children with all kinds of special educational needs, during which time I attained my MA in SEN. Throughout those years, I encountered many children with dyslexia who had to wait months and years to be assessed through the system. It was heartbreaking and frustrating all round.
So, three years ago, I decided that it was the right time to move out of classroom teaching and retrain to assess children for dyslexia. To support myself I also do tutoring with children from the ages of 7 to 15, particularly in maths. I qualified to assess in December 2016 and have since undertaken many assessments for children of all ages.
