Sarah McCahon

I have worked as a Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD) assessor for many years and have considerable experience assessing children from the age of 7 and adults. Although I am based in Sussex, I offer home visits through Sussex, Surrey and Kent, and also offer weekend and evening appointments. I provide immediate verbal feedback at assessments and then post full, detailed reports within 10 days of cleared payment.

With a background in teaching, I specialised in SpLDs in 2004 by gaining the Post Graduate Diploma in Adult Dyslexia Diagnosis and Support from London South Bank University. I also gained the SpLD Assessment Practising Certificate which enables me to carry out assessments and write reports suitable for the Disabled Students Allowance in higher education. Several years ago, I developed my practice to include children and am now regularly asked by families, schools and other establishments to carry out full assessments which are always conducted in a professional yet friendly manner.

Alongside my private practice, I have worked as an Additional Learning Support lecturer and diagnostic specialist at Central Sussex College in Crawley since 2006. My role at the college involves establishing exam access arrangements, carrying out full diagnostic assessments, running training sessions and providing a consultancy service to staff.

I am also mum to a teenage son who has dyslexia and dyspraxia, and therefore I have experience of supporting a child through his GCSEs and beyond.

Further information about my services and fees can be found at my website www.sarahmccahondyslexiaservices.co.uk but please free to give me a call on 01342 714065 if you have any questions.
