Janet Kruger
I obtained my RSA Diploma for Teachers of Students with Specific Learning Difficulties (RSA Dip SpLD) in 1996. I worked for the Cognition and Learning Service for a number of years tutoring Statemented Primary and Secondary School pupils with dyslexia, and at present I work in a Primary School, tutoring a dyslexic Statemented pupil. I also tutor dyslexic pupils privately.
Since 1998, I have been assessing a large number of students in various Secondary Schools for Exam Access Arrangements. I have been employed part-time for a number of years in High Schools to assess pupils for dyslexia.
As I have a Specific Learning Difficulties Assessment Practising Certificate (SpLD APC (Patoss), I am qualified to assess for the Disabled Students’ Allowances (DSA) and I work at a University assessing students for the DSA.
I worked at the Medway Dyslexia Association from June 2002 until it closed, assessing Primary, Secondary and University students and I have continued these assessments since then.
I am a member of the Specific Learning Difficulties Test Evaluation Committee (STEC), which was set up by the Department of Education to evaluate tests used by Chartered Psychologists and Specialist Teachers to diagnose dyslexia in order to enable University students to obtain the Disabled Students Allowances’ (DSA).
