Kerry Kearney
My name is Kerry Kearney I am a teacher with many years’ experience and a Level 7 Specialist Teacher in Dyslexia and an Assessor of Dyslexia, having gained the Assessment Practicing Certificate (APC) from the British Dyslexia Association and I am an Associate Member of the BDA. I also fully trained to assess for Dyscalculia.
I have gained lots of experience of assessing children for Dyslexia, both those under and over 16. I offer face to face assessments at my home or I am willing to travel in Kent, Essex and London. I am set up to provide full online diagnostic assessments, which may be preferred as it can be carried out in your own home. I am flexible and can offer week day appointment or weekends if this is preferable.
I am also qualified to assess for Dyscalculia for both adult and children and can diagnose this and provide recommendations about the support that is needed.
In carrying out the assessments, I am able to indicate if there are other co-occurring conditions such as: visual or auditory issues, developmental language disorder or motor co-ordination issues and can signpost you to other professionals who will be able to help. You will receive a full, detailed report describing strengths and areas of need with recommendations on what support is required.
I can assess if you are considering going onto Further Education and may have a specific learning difficulty and therefore may be eligible for Disabled Student Allowance (DSA). I support schools in exam access assessments and can carry out the assessments to evidence need for reasonable adjustments, such as extra time, scribe, prompt etc.
I am passionate about the work I do in assessing adults and children who may be dyslexic so that they get the support they need and can meet their full potential.
