Alex Boyle
I gained the PATOSS Level 7 Assessment Practising Certificate in 2015. Since then I have
assessed children from 8 years of age who may struggle with literacy skills; teenagers
wondering why their effort does not lead to the success they wish for; students seeking a
diagnosis for university support and the Disabled Student’s Allowance (DSA) and adults who
have always wondered why literacy skills evaded them.
With over 10 years of experience as a classroom teacher, I began tutoring students with
dyslexia and other specific learning difficulties in 2004, working within both State and
Private schools. I have also worked with organisations such as Medway Dyslexia Association,
Dyslexia Action London and the University of Kent at Canterbury. These roles have given me
valuable insight into resources and strategies that are effective.
My experience as a SENCo and an Educational Support Co-Ordinator has deepened my
understanding of the support schools are able to provide and the exam access
arrangements available and beneficial to students.
The assessment process is tailored to the age of the individual, with time to discuss their
unique needs. I provide quick feedback, personal communication and a comprehensive
written report with detailed recommendations and strategies to support their learning.
For many, it’s a relief to discover that there is a reason for their difficulties, especially when their effort may not match their results.
I am based in mid-Kent, insured and DBS checked.
